Description

#1 New York Times bestselling author Ken Follett takes to the skies in this classic novel of international suspense. Set in the early days of World War II, Night over Water captures the daring and desperation of ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances—in prose as compelling as history itself. . . .

September 1939. England is at war with Nazi Germany. In Southampton,  the world's most luxurious airliner—the legendary Pan Am Clipper—takes off for its final flight to neutral America. Aboard are the cream of society and the dregs of humanity, all fleeing the war for reasons of their own . . . shadowed by a danger they do not know exists . . . and heading straight into a storm of violence, intrigue, and betrayal. . . .

Good characters. A bit of airplane history. Almost predictable plot. Follett always has a good way with his writing to keep the reader interested thru the end. The Kingsbridge series is his diamond!

Excellence is what you expect and excellence is certainly what you'll get. Ken Follett is at the top of his game.

I scanned large parts, just to find out what happened. I cherish Pillars Of The Earth and Eye of the Needle, but this book paled in comparison. That may not be fair to compare but whatever

Could not put this down. Thought I would be sorry to say goodbye to these characters but the author allowed us to say farewell easily. I am left wondering how their lives continued. Look forward to reading another book by this author. Thank you!

Don't take this one too seriously or you'll get caught up in thinking that the plot and subplots are too over the top to be believable. And they are, but that's what makes this such a delightful book -- rather like a James Bond story with lots of intrigue, mystery and crazy romance thrown in. On the serious side, for anyone who loves aviation as I do, the details about the legendary Pan Am clipper is factual and a real treat.
