Maxine "Maxi" Daniels runs her own auto shop in Virginia, but when she learns of an auto race on Bluestar Island with a cash prize, she's determined to compete. After her mother died, her aunt became an important part of Maxi's life. After her father passed on, the only family Maxi has is her aunt. And now it's Maxi's turn to help her aunt by winning the race and collecting the prize money needed to fix up her aunt's aging home.

Game designer Owen Turner has written off dating after his last disastrous relationship. However, when unbeknownst to him someone signs him up for the island's first bachelor auction, he'll do anything to stop the ladies from hitting on him…including getting a fake girlfriend.

So when his life collides with Maxi's, he offers her a deal she can't refuse. But when their charade starts to feel real, will they be able to deny the love growing in their hearts?
