Good set-up for new series
5By Upset user in laThis novella is a good back ground story for Fallon Jones and intriguing set up for a new series about Vortex. I liked the hard-boiled detective writing style-spare and economical, condensed description but with a real sense of place. Pulls together a lot of loose ends such as the crystal weapons and uses the character of Arizona Snow to good effect. It also explains why a loner like Fallon Jones would be hanging out in a coffee shop, which is a wry observation about his character. This is a series that readers will appreciate with re-reading.Awful!

1By punkykittygirlNormally I like books written by Jayne Ann Krentz, but this was a disjointed mess that made no sense at all. Spanning a total of 35 pages, it was like reading the cliff notes of a reader's digest version that gave no backstory at all. The most understandable part of the story was the memo at the beginning.
