Description

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A PARADE BEST KIDS BOOK OF ALL TIME • Millions of people have fallen in love with Auggie Pullman, an ordinary boy with an extraordinary facewho shows us that kindness brings us together no matter how far apart we are. Read the book that inspired the Choose Kind movement, a major motion picture, and the critically acclaimed graphic novel White Bird.

And don't miss R.J. Palacio's highly anticipated new novel, Pony, available now!

I won't describe what I look like. Whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse.

August Pullman was born with a facial difference that, up until now, has prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Starting 5th grade at Beecher Prep, he wants nothing more than to be treated as an ordinary kid—but his new classmates can’t get past Auggie’s extraordinary face. Beginning from Auggie’s point of view and expanding to include his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others, the perspectives converge to form a portrait of one community’s struggle with empathy, compassion, and acceptance. In a world where bullying among young people is an epidemic, this is a refreshing new narrative full of heart and hope.

R.J. Palacio has called her debut novel “a meditation on kindness” —indeed, every reader will come away with a greater appreciation for the simple courage of friendship. Auggie is a hero to root for, a diamond in the rough who proves that you can’t blend in when you were born to stand out.

See Wonder is a great book, with an amazing concept, I just feel like it could’ve been executed better. The multiple chapters are related to each other by a very thin line, making the plot feel at a whack. Also the main character, (August) was really unlikable at some points. It just felt like he was such a crybaby at some points (like when he wanted to go to Via’s show and CRIED his way into it like bruh). This also might be because I’m a girl but i felt the way August and Jack just made up a bit…unbelievable? The fact that it was over some text messages and not in person felt weird. Finally, the frickin Justin chapter. I have personally not read this chapter at all. With all the horrible grammar and usage of “i did blah” instead of “I did blah” annoyed me to the point where I had to skip the whole entire section. Wonder is still a nice quick read which is fun if you have literally nothing else to read but I felt at times it could’ve been better

My teacher used to read this to us in class and every time she said I’m going to read a few chapters of Wonder id be so excited like yea! And every one else was just like ok but I loved this book SOOOO MUCH that I read the whole book at home before my class I read WAY FARTHER then what chapter they were on also I LOVE THIS BOOK it’s awesome it shows courage and and kindness and friendship and I just think this is a great book for kids to read for 2 reason 1 it’s a great book 2 that it will show them that there are people like Auggie with face disorders so that they won’t be shocked to come across someone like that. But I love this book it’s awesome

Cool book for kids that people can relate about adjusting to an new area and feeling different than most kids but it also doesn’t have enough details over certain areas of the book but definitely recommend

I loved the way he said about his life and that his Friends protected him during the nature retreat. But, I want him to love himself just the way he is. And may god bless his heart and his surgeries. And may the war be over soon. Amen.

Read this in 5th grade and I still find myself reading more only because of how much it really shows how hard it can be to live differently and how people around you can feel it really shows the real life experience

Ok so I just saw a review that said Auggie is ugly but he was born like this so u shouldn’t be so judgmental. Anyway, I’m currently in 5th grade and I’m reading this book in class and I actually rlly like this book so far. It was really funny and most of the characters are really nice (except for people like Julian) but this book teaches u to be yourself. And I’m almost done with the book. So this book is a 9/10 (for now..!)

I figured out that the moral of the story is to just be yourself. You don’t need other people telling you that you are ugly on the outside, but you can be beautiful in many ways.
