Description

Aldous Leonard Huxley was born on July 26, 1894, in Godalming, Surrey, England. He was an English writer, philosopher and a member of the well-known Huxley family. In his life, he wrote many novels, short stories, poems, essays, articles and other types of literature, but he was best-known for his novels, especially for his “Brave New World” and the non-fiction book “The Doors of Perception”. He died on November 22, 1963, in Los Angeles, California, United States.
Although he was best-known for his novels, his poetry books were also famous. His first poetry book was “The Burning Wheel”, after which followed his second poetry book “The Defeat of Youth and Other Poems”. This book begins with the eponymous poem, which is actually a sequence of twenty-two sonnets
One of his poetry collections is this book. Apart from the poem “The Defeat of Youth”, it contains a number of other poems. The rest of the poems, thirty-five in total, are mostly sonnets, but there are also other forms.
In this book you will find poems about nature, which use very descriptive language, making you experience a real-life feeling, several traditional love poems, and two translations of French poems.
In this book, the author is characteristically knowledgeable, still very passionate, erotic and energetic.
