Home / My First Summer in the Sierra
Naturalist and conservationist John Muir relates his first extended journey through the Sierra Nevada in 1869. He was immediately overtaken by the natural beauty, numerous waterfalls and abundant plant and animal life. The trip changed the course of Muir's life and led him to champion the protection of wilderness areas and the eventual creation of national parks. This 1911 edition contains drawings made by Muir during his expedition.
