“Very good book. It will pull you in from the beginning and not let up until the last paragraph. The characters are pretty true to life and it feels like you are there with them. A twist at the end will get you.”

  • Nice twists and suspense!

I enjoyed reading this book as it had some nice twists. The characters brought me into the storyline and it had a nice mystery to it. I particularly enjoyed the daughter, Chloe. Two things bothered me about Lena, the housekeeper, which comes out at the last chapter - if she is on the side of the aide or not. I question the window scene in comparison to the ocean scene. Did Lena know all along and do nothing? Nathan’s character is lacking at the car scene. I was surprised at how Nathan, along with Lena, were not actively helpful. I get one would be afraid but I didn’t care for their resolve in turning their back on Emily. It is nice that Alicia finds her strength to help her aide at the end. The dynamic of Grant and Nathan is a bit frustrating but resolved at the end. Overall, I like the storyline and it had a great pull. I would recommend reading this book as the mystery of the house is intriguing and there are suspenseful moments that are really interesting and tense. I liked it!

The first part of the book put me off. You can’t see the Pacific Ocean from San Jose

Too much happened in too short a time. The characters felt rushed—too much happened in too short a time. Good story but everything moved too quickly. The plot never got a chance to thicken.
  • A great read!
