Description

I want to.
I can’t.

I’ve been friends with Cooper Rice from the moment we met. He was just as famous a decade ago on our college campus as he is now being the star quarterback for the Chicago Grizzlies.

But he’s not only talented on the field, he’s also the gorgeous football star women fawn over, posing in underwear and razor ads.

Here’s a secret those women don’t know—Cooper Rice isn’t a playboy. He’s the kind of man who wants to settle down with a family. He’s content ordering pizza and massaging my feet after my long shift as an emergency room doctor. He listens to me as if he’s as invested as I am in my patients. He has never let me down.

This is exactly why I refuse to live without Cooper in my life. Eight years ago, I made him promise me that we’d never cross that line. And just like I knew Cooper would, he’s held to that promise.

Despite our best efforts, our relationship is evolving, shifting into new territory and I find myself unsure if I want Cooper to keep that promise. Ignoring the obvious could tear us apart, but so could giving in, meaning there’s a chance I’ll lose Cooper forever no matter what decision I make.

As far as I’m concerned, Cooper and Ellery are the best couple of this series, and their story was so worth waiting for! Friends to lovers is always my go-to, most loved trope, and when written by Piper Rayne, I know I’m going to love it. A decade is a long time to ignore romantic feelings for your best friend, but Cooper and Ellery have floated down that river of denial together, but separate. It only takes a new, too close for comfort partner to bring all those buried feelings closer to the surface. No spoilers here, but I think fans who have been waiting for these two to just get on with it will be very happy…obviously not just at the outcome, but the journey as well. I’m sorry to see the series end, but these six friends, and especially Cooper and Ellery, got the finale the deserved.

The first 2 in series had me absolutely hooked…. I have been waiting very impatiently for this one and I did not love the storyline at all. It was bland and there was no passion between them in my opinion.
  • The perfect ending to an amazing series!

Audiobook review: I absolutely love dual POV narration and Aaron Shedlock & Emma Wilder nailed Cooper and Ellery! The amount of love, support and unwavering devotion these two had for each other as "just friends" was beautiful. Their friend group, and everyone around them could all see what they didn't - that they were in love with each other. Best friends for 10 years, Cooper & Ellery finally decide to take the leap and give a relationship a try. Coopers ready to jump in feet first from the beginning because he has loved Ellery in silence since the day he met her, but Ellery is so focused on her career that she almost misses out on what's always been right in front of her - her future. Their HEA was not without challenges but their love forgone another won out in the end. I loved that we got to hear from their friend group, and couples from the previous two installments of the Chicago Grizzlies series. That's what I'm a series lover - you get to follow the group on their individual journeys and still get snippets of them in other stories. Piper Rayne nailed it with this entire series and Cooper and Ellery's story was the perfect ending!

Looking for a new book boyfriend? Well one click this one because Cooper is everything! Ughhh I say every story from this duo author oh yes he is my favorite book boyfriend but then the next book comes and smashes the one before! Cooper is swoonworthy, adorable and all the above! Elderly and Cooper have been best friends since college and now they have chosen to be friends and stay friends….. we all love a friends to lovers trope but Piper Rayne really knows how to give us just enough angst sprinkled with some sexy times and you will definitely be devouring this book! The characters are well developed and we love the characters from the past and you get an idea in the end of what is to come next and trust me you will be squealing and I can’t wait for the next chapter! The plot, the cover and the characters in this one is definitely a recipe of success but after reading books from this duo I am definitely not surprised at all! Go one click so you can swoon too!!

Something Like Love was the final installment in the Chicago Grizzlies series. I really enjoyed this friends to lovers, sports romance. Cooper and Ellery’s chemistry was palpable from first meet, unfortunately outside influences kept them in the friend zone. For years, they kept their relationship platonic, but despite their best efforts, their dynamic shifted. The drama and storyline was entertaining and fun. I enjoyed the banter and push/pull between them. Aaron Shedlock and Emma Wilder did a really great job portraying these characters.
  • Finally, Ellery and Cooper’s Story

Piper Rayne definitely saved the best for last in this series. This is the third and final installment of the Chicago Grizzlies series and we finally get Cooper and Ellery’s story. Throughout the prequel and first two books, you know that Chicago Grizzlies quarterback Cooper Rice and Dr. Ellery Wallace have been best friends since college, but there has always been an undercurrent of something more than friendship. In this book, you get to see the backstory of their relationship and the realization that they need to make a decision about where this relationship is going. If you like a good friends to lovers romance, you will love this book. I received an arc of this book for my honest opinion.

Aaaaahhhhh…Cooper & Ellery. This book was the friends to lovers that dreams are made of. This whole series has been a must read, & this one was no exception. Cooper & Ellery met in college. And they started out a friendship that was inseparable. The way that these two just completed each other & complimented each other was absolute goals. But one fateful night 8 years ago, circumstances out of their control brought them to a pact that they would always be friends & never cross that line. After 8 years of being each other’s everything, Cooper & Ellery couldn’t see past their years old promise to stay friends. But when pushed, these two discovered that maybe they mean more to each other than they think. As Ellery starts dating one of Cooper’s teammates, Cooper finds that his “perfect boyfriend” actions are no longer needed. And as Cooper attempts to find ways to move past his underlying desires by casually dating, Ellery finds herself feeling out of sorts. I loved the way that their friend group all came together to help them find their way back to each other. The way they were always like “it’s like mom & dad are fighting”. The banter between all of the characters was so entertaining & I loved seeing glimpses of Damien & Adeline with baby Clover & also getting glimpses of Miles & Bryce. This Chicago Grizzlies team was something special & I’m really going to miss their antics. I hope we can get some glimpses of them in future books. And as always, Piper Rayne teases the next series & has me waiting not so patiently for the next bout of shenanigans.

I am so glad to have gotten to dive back into the world of the 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐠𝐨 𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐳𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬! This series has been so, so good! Piper Rayne is a fabtastic writing duo & I love how they dish their fans out some yummy characters & amazing plot lines! This book brings us to Ellery & Cooper's story, as best friends to lovers. It was a beautifully done, slowish burn story & I was there for it🫶🏻! These characters stole my heart & forgot to return it! I fell hard for Cooper Rice! He was a wonderfully chiseled character. I loved how he was with Ellery, all possessive & caring with her! The way he fell for her......🤌🏻perfection. Absolutely perfect. Ellery Wallace is an ER doc who is strong & independent. I loved that! But, when it came to Cooper....she didn't want to ruin the amazing friendship they have. Watching their story unfold, seeing the undeniable sparks of chemistry between them, rooting for them as they navigated their feelings, was such a fun time while listening to this one! Watching them fall??? It was *👩🏻‍🍳💋*!!!! 𝐴𝑎𝑟𝑜𝑛 𝑆ℎ𝑒𝑑𝑙𝑜𝑐𝑘 & 𝐸𝑚𝑚𝑎 𝑊𝑖𝑙𝑑𝑒𝑟 brought Cooper & Ellery to life in the absolute best way! Aaron Shedlock has an incredible voice that flows smoothly & is filled with the passion of the character, bringing Cooper to life & giving us a real glimpse of the football player. Emma Wilder did a phenomenal job with Ellery! The banter, the drive, the love....all of Ellery popped from this audiobook & captivated me in the best way with Emma Wilder!
