Something like Lust

I have read over a dozen books by Piper Rayne and they are always at minimum good. This one was another cute, fun, sports romance which also delivered a good reading experience. I listened to the audiobook and it was well narrated. This was written and narrated in dual pov. For my audio people, RUN and get this one! One name, Aiden Snow! You will thank me later. Damon and Adeline are the MMC and FMC and their chemistry is adorable. Adeline and Damon become pregnant after a one night stand and I enjoyed watching their lives transform from lovers, to friends, and then parents. Damon and his father did tick me off at certain points in the story, but ultimately redeemed themselves. The HEA ending was lovely and made me smile. For those who don't like spicy romance, this is a good option. There are only a few love scenes, but they are short and consistent with typical romance. This is perfect for the football girls and those who fantasize about what it would be like to date an athlete. Overall, I found the story line to be entertaining and enjoyable. I found the main characters and the supporting characters both appealing and interesting. The book also features several of my favorite tropes including sports romance, accidental pregnancy, and close proximity. Loved this read!

I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is Damon's story and it's a one-night stand, pregnancy, baby daddy/mommy type of romance. This was a very different story that the authors decided to tell because the pregnancy is not the focus of the story, but rather fatherhood is the focus. The story begins with Damon coming to Adeline's small town because he received a text that she is six months pregnant with his child. In typical football player ways, he pretty much storms her middle school and inserts himself into her life to tell her he wants to be there for her and his child. This is a story about growing up, facing responsibilities and doing what is best for your child. Adeline forms a friendship with Damon as they get to know each other while waiting for their child to be born and then as the child enters the world. I adored watching them not only fall in love with their child but also, they form such a strong and amazing friendship which then leads to them falling for each other. They both are amazing people and have awesome families and friends who support them and each other. There is a little angst but an awesome cast of characters and a really amazing couple that I fell very hard for.

The moment he learns his one night stand, was pregnant with his baby, Damon was all in for being a dad. All the protective instincts kick in. He and Adeline start out as friends and eventually lovers. It took Damon a minute to figure out his feelings. We get to see Damon grow. He goes from playboy to girl dad. It was fun going through the pregnancy and childbirth with him. His overprotected moments and his instant love for baby Clover. Adeline is a teacher. She is not part of the fast sports life. The one night stand was out of character for her. She is strong and independent. She made it clear she didn’t need or want Damon’s money. The story is fun and we get to see other characters from the previous book who add a bit of humor. The friendship is fun and they always have each other’s backs. Entertaining with a great epilogue. Narrators were great per usual.

Quite simply…he doesn’t do relationships…with good reason. But what about the one he wants to see again? What about the one who changed his life forever with just one amazing night? Adeline Morgan is quiet, reserved, & a well respected teacher. She’s also a hopeless romantic coming off of a doozy of a breakup. But one night out with other teacher friends to a Chicago Grizzlies game finds her in a bar after & coming face to face with our favorite Den playboy who had set her libido on fire. One night is all it took to rock her world, ruin other men for her, & give her the souvenir of all souvenirs for a lifetime. Surprise pregnancy tropes can be touchy. There’s a fine line to teeter on, & Piper Rayne has executed it so so well. Adeline’s hesitancy to tell Damon of her situation is well founded & Damon’s reaction when he finds out is epic. His persistence just to be a part of her life stole my heart. Adeline’s feistiness & independence sure did make Damon work for his place, but I loved the way that she completely opened her life up for him to prove to be the man he could be. His growth as a man, partner, & finally a daddy was a sight to behold. I loved the way that they both focused completely on co-parenting & their friendship, letting their affection slowly grow as they came to know each other on a different level. Slow burn is an understatement, but to see Damon quietly fall deeper & deeper for the mother of his child, it was definitely swoon-worthy. And to watch Damon with their baby, who would’ve known…Adeline didn’t stand a chance. While #damonstolemyheart is very very real, his hesitance for relationships broke me. And it truly took someone like Adeline to break down those walls and show him how amazing it can be when love and family collide.

Damon and Adeline’s story was a good one, watching the skirt chasing ball player step up when he finds out his one night stand is not expecting his baby. I couldn’t remember if we watched these two at least flirt at the end of Bryce and Miles’ book, so to have Adeline already six months along threw me a bit. And maybe I didn’t connect with them right away, but by the end, I was definitely #teamdamonandaddie! Loved the budding friendship of Addie, Bryce and Ellery as much as I’ve loved teammates Cooper, Miles and Damon become a unit. And to watch these grown men go gaga over this sweet baby (no gender or name reveal, folks! lol) Great chemistry, great dialogue and a slow burn…which I often appreciate more and more. Can’t wait for Cooper and Ellery to get their heads out their behinds and admit their feelings…book 3 is coming soon!

Pretty much a nonstop smile, from the intro to the conclusion. Damon and Adeline were adorable together and while the premise has been done before- one night stand with a playboy pro football star leads to a surprise baby, the best thing about this story is just how likable the characters are, especially Damon. I adored how invested he became in the baby, which was swoon worthy. I smiled so much throughout, and fell more deeply for not just the couple, but the world. Plenty of chuckles and outright laughs throughout and just a fun way to spend a few hours! Can’t wait for the next one!

Adeline was not Damon’s typical jersey chaser, he just literally charmed the pants off her & 6 months later gets a surprise text!! Unlike your usual playboy, Damon steps up to his dad-to-be role & totally falls head over heels for his little girl. He might have had a bit of a mental block to get past when it comes to her momma, but with the help of some friends, some not-so friends & some family members, our boy finally figures out how to win back both his girls full-time.

Yet another winner from the team of Piper Rayne. This is the second book in the Chicago Grizzlies series and centers around running back Damon Siska and Adeline Morgan. We met both of them in the prequel to this series when they hooked up one night. It is now six months later, and Damon and his team have just won the Super Bowl and he receives a text letting him know his is going to be a daddy. I love a good “surprise” baby romance, and this one has been done right. If you haven’t started this series, I suggest reading it as it is a lot of fun.
