Overall, loved the characters and setting. The plot does fall short for me though, to me it is not fast paced, it is rushed. Many of the storylines are just explained away and not fully fleshed out to their potential. There is so much anticipation surrounding events…only for the action to be abrupt and fully dealt with in moments. The romance was also pretty quick, it just didn’t seem very realistic or something worth yearning for. With that being said, I understand that this is a series and maybe some of those plot lines will be explained in other novels but if it’s marketed as a stand alone it should truly stand alone. It wasn’t my particular cup of tea, but for readers who enjoy fast paced novels with a happily ever after you will absolutely enjoy this book to the fullest effect.

This is an engaging introduction to the steamy rollercoaster that is a PJ Fiala series. The story takes you from the first day of state’s landing in town and meeting Lara, through the twists and turns of their steamy interludes and growing relationship. If you love PJ Fiala’s stories, you will love this. If you are not familiar, it’s a great stand alone or series intro. While I listened to the story, it’s definitely going to pull you in and keep you going for “just one more chapter…” in book form as well. The narration was smooth and added to the enjoyment. While I received this audiobook as an ARC, this is my honest review.

This is a great series starter - where the children of the prior GHOST operatives are keeping up the tradition under GHOST Legacy. Tate and his team are hired to protect a government construction site in Glen Hollow KY. There is a group called Black Road Resistance which has a treaty with the town, but both sides are changing terms, and local businesses are feeling the brunt of the vandalism. Most impacted is Lara, owner of the local bakery - as they are after her sugar, and seem to have a personal vendetta against her. Tate becomes fond of her cookies and her company. Events escalate, and secrets come to light. It will take the team, and then some to keep everyone safe. An exciting and romantic read, which will keep you glued to the page.
