I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve read this book. It’s like a pair of comfy old sneakers.

Fun travel series much like some shows about life in an upperclass hotel. Fair warning, the very last chapter or 2 takes a dark look at what governments are capable of in terms of the ends justify the means.

This is a story about the trip of a Strainer. It follows a couple of crew members and several passengers. A very unique story. If you are one who likes to read travel stories, you will enjoy this one.

Excellent plot, very well laid out and some interesting twist by some of the characters. The ending leave open a possibility of a sequel which I would definitely read!
  • This is great! I read it in one session.

This is a somewhat episodic story of a trip on a starliner with numerous stops at various planets with differing cultures. The trip includes highjacking, kidnapping, war, difficult passengers, amorous passengers, romances and work. Plenty of guns but not a single tank. No war rooms or extended discussion of tactics. I've missed this kind of book. Read it. If this gets made into a movie someone should check into the possibilities of resurrecting Nigel Bruce to play an intelligent Watson--maybe paired with Donald Sutherland. The major characters require more thought.

Drake does great characterization, while keeping the action going. This novella is shorter than most of his I have read, but that just allowed me to finish it in one sitting.

I enjoyed this... A certain Heinlein feel. Recommeded.

Simply put; the most engaging book I have read in a year. Something for everyone: action, science, romance, betrayal, duty, and honor. Hooked me with the Northworld Trilogy and reeled me in with Starliner. Great job, write faster please.

Effectively a grouping of short stories under a common theme. Minimally SF but good stories.
