Not her best
By BeanieOD
I bit silly and immature. Not up to her usual level of storytelling.
One of my favorites by Hoover

Love this series. It’s been underrated and not in the press as much as others. So good
Not her best work

I’ve read almost all of Hoover’s books and this one was by far the worst. The storyline was too sporadic and the details were elementary at best... if I didn’t have a need to finish every book I start, I would’ve quit much sooner.
Read it

A little slow at first but worth it. Just remember to read Slammed first or else it won’t make much sense.
Enjoyable, teen read

I did enjoy it, however not as much as the first one. This one is from Wills narrative and I more so enjoyed Lake being narrator. Good and entertaining read nonetheless!
Not as good as the others

I just came across Colleen Hoover last week when I saw “it ends with us” on Instagram. Since then I read five of her books in four days. There is no doubt that she can pull you in and captivate you with her characters and their raw human emotions. “Point of retreat” was the fifth book of hers that I read and let me tell you I was disappointed. Hoover obviously is a talented writer but, her writing from the male perspective is lacking in emotion compared to her female perspective writing. I felt this way about “ugly love” but that was only a partial and this book was entirely male perspective. I did read the whole thing but it was bland and it felt like she was forcing herself to not right from a female perspective and in turn made the male character so boring. She did not hit it out of the park this time.
Absolutely Amazing

Possibly better than the first book. Heart warming, well developed and thought out characters make this a must read. You are write there with them all as you cry, laugh, and fall in love. I agree with Jaime McGuire's assessment, the whole read was definitely, "Pure Poetry!"
