You’ll soon learn where McMurtry found his inspiration for Lonesome Dove. Incredible story and characters. Perhaps the most amazing thing is the sequel, written decades later - amazing because it’s just as good and there is NO WAY this story can have a sequel- until it happens.

This book will take you back in time and make it seem like you are there, inside the story, as we travel through many key historical touch points. A fascinating read that will grab your attention with the stories and events that helped shape our nation.
  • A must read for any McMurtry fan

This book is a must read for anyone who sometimes wishes they had been born in the days of the Wild West. If you loved Lonesome Dove and The Berrybender Narratives, this is one you will burn thru as well. The characters in this novel become your family and your friends and a few your enemies. I am sad to have finished it. It is one of the few I have read that I wish had a new chapter each morning. A big thanks to the great authors in this world for the adventures you offer us as readers. I am appreciative!

As important as Huck Finn, in its own way, LBM is a masterpiece in story telling, character, tone and content. The movie, directed by the late Arthur Penn, is magnificent; the book even better, being longer and more detailed.

Great story that gives a great insight into the Native American culture. This book holds plenty of deep insights and character development. I recommend this book especially to those who enjoy good historical fictions. Oh, they also turned this into an excellent movie.
