Thoroughly researched and compellingly written. An essential work by a brilliant Black economist and intellectual who dares to challenge and condemn conventional white liberal "wisdom" regarding Black culture, Black history, upward mobility, and race relations in the United States.

This book is by far one of the best books you can read. Thomas Sowells use of of the facts is astounding. What is even more astounding however is how he weaves the facts together to present a picture that is cohesive. The chapter on 'The Real History of Slavery' was worth the price of this book several times over. The biggest value I think you get from this book is not the data points or statistics, but its assistance in helping you look at the world with a fuller view of life. Not just looking at isolated instances, but trying to take in the full picture.
