Book received as free ARC gift from author. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Stephanie writes in such a manner that it demands to be savored slowly, luxuriously. From the very first page, she had my attention. Her characters are vibrant and tangible, as though they could be sitting right next to you while you read. The juxtaposition of fear and hope Paige experiences as she goes through a change she neither asked for nor wants is matched only by the curiosity and hints of that elusive “something more” Jed feels but doesn’t want to admit to. The collection of people Paige amasses over the course of the story is as entertaining as it enchanting, proving that evil doesn’t always mean bad and “angelic” doesn’t always mean good. This is a story you could fall into time and time again. And if you’re looking for another urban fantasy title by Stephanie to read, may I suggest ‘Darkness Reawakened: Reimagined’.

This book is part of a series, but can be read alone. For the full character affect I highly recommend reading the rest of the series. The characters in this book are very well thought out, relatable, unique. I love Paige! Paige is so in awe of her friends Becca and Theresa, there is no way she thinks she could ever be as bad a** as either one of them, but she is. She just hasn’t realized it yet. Just when she thinks she finally found the key to being free if Satan she realizes in true Satan form, he has played a dirty trick and now she must find a way around it. What happens next is a hilarious, adventure with a hired assassin that has an agenda of his own. This series is about finding love, but more importantly about finding friendship, being true to yourself, fighting for your dreams and realizing that you can do anything in this life and you shouldn’t have to do it alone.

So, my first recommendation is to read the previous books in the series. I had not done so, and I was frankly confused at the beginning. I put it down and picked it back up a few times, wondering if I should not bother until I caught up. Because there’s a lot going on, and with a PNR, sometimes it’s hard to explain everything that happened in past books. But I stuck with it and really enjoyed it. Paige and Jed are quite the interesting pair, she’s sunshine and he’s a tortured grump. Thrown together when she needs a bodyguard, a lot happens 8n a small window of time. It’s hot, it’s funny and it’s quite a ride.
  • More Fun than a Roller Coaster!

I loved all the twists and turns in this book. I fell in love with Paige. She was a great character. She was funny, quirky, optimistic, loved fiercely, and didn’t give up on herself or Jed. She wanted a family so bad and saw the family connection Jed had. She was loyal to her Rivka friends and vice versa. She and Jed team up which is an unlikely team, but their attraction and chemistry keep them together until their feelings catch up. Together they go through every possible scenario they possibly can to outwit Satan and his son. I don’t want to give away the plot, but it has more twists and turns than the Houston freeways. It was so much fun to see what friend or friend’s friend would lead them to the next crossroads and what else Satan or his son would throw their way. It was a roller coaster ride until the end. It was well worth the read and I can’t wait for the next book in the series where it looks like Jed’s brother, Rafi’s story may be told. I look forward to another ride on the Rowe Express.

I truly love this series. Every book has made me laugh while pulling me into a story about angels, demons and Satan himself. Jed and Paige we won a mission against all odds. While of course you know you’re going to get your HEA, the journey to get there kept me reading so I finished in one sitting. Paige is fighting a darkness so awful that it would end the world and Jed is desperate to save his brother. Their goals, unfortunately, are in conflict but they still support each other and find their way. Great read. Highly recommend!
  • A swoony snarky delicious paranormal romance

This is the first book I have read in this series and while I felt a bit lost in the first few pages, the story quickly grabbed me and did not let me go making it irrelevant that I had not read the first three books. It was a roller coaster of a ride as I accompanied Paige and Jed on their adorably, messy, hilarious, steamy, sort of evil, sort of angelic but inevitable journey to their HEA. Paige is a Rivka who no longer works for Satan and is happy to be free until she discovers she’s a harboring a ticking time bomb wraith inside her who can destroy the world. Jed is a shadow warrior working as an assassin for Satan, Jr in order to save his brother, Rafi. He stumbles upon Paige while looking for his latest target and agrees to be her guard her from herself while she tries to hold on to her goodness. The story includes what you’d expect from this genre - fighting, dangerous situations, end of the world scenarios, paranormal creatures, evil masterminds, henchmen, loyal friends and family, tragic back stories, plot twists. mystical coincidences, snark, and laughs. It also includes witty dialogue, characters with depth, and an engaging storyline. Expect to laugh, to cry, to grit your teeth, to cringe, and to root for Paige and Jed to find happiness and save themselves along with Rafi. I will definitely be reading more of this series.

This is the first book in the series I have read. The main character, Paige has a few screws loose, but sunshine and rainbows play a running theme in her head. The angels are a$$hats and Satan needs therapy and a wardrobe consultant, that he’d probably smote anyways. The story was fun, funny and fast paced. Even though I am catching this series in the middle, there isn’t enough tie in to previous stories to where this story couldn’t stand on its own. The side characters are interesting enough for me to visit the previous books to see how they got here. I’d definitely recommend a book to read.
