Oh my goodness this book INFURIATED ME! It felt really forced and some things would either be too easy to predict OR SO UNREALISTIC NOT EVEN THE SUBTLEST HINTS WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?! But some parts were pretty good.

It’s like the Hunger Games meets King Henry the 8th’s royal court! These books have everything I could have asked for. The character’s truly come to life with the beautiful writing. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

It’s really difficult to like the main character of the story. She spends the first 300 pages of this book trembling, and being terrified that she’s at the palace. Apparently she is beautiful based on what everyone is saying, but this is allegedly news to her. I guess this is supposed to make her more likable - that she is oblivious to her looks. Maybe if the writing was better, it would help.

Spent all weekend, reading this series as often as I could. Only, to realize I have wasted my time! **Spoiler** I love Will, all of them but I was really loving the flow and feelings that came with each chapter, each book for all the Captives. Tears, smiles and laughs - when they could find them! But it was the prince who started to be most root-able in the romantic interest field. Still loving Will, all of them but it was largely the new enjoyment of seeing the changes and growth in the Prince. The Prince and Elise! Now it seems I have no interest in confusing the read, no matter how much I still want to see how everyone’s journey, hopeful triumph comes to pass. I’ll just use my imagination from here.

It didn’t explain enough to follow the story line. Not even interested to read the next book. Got this free. Not worth spending money.

The ending was horrible! Their were things left out. It could have mentioned what the next claiming may have meant for Elise or even what happened to her after stabbing the prince. The ending just didn’t seem well thought out!
