Furlough was made to have everyone’s quandary; doing what is just and the cost that presents. I was endeared to this character and hurt by his suffering. This is a soul searching story that is a must share.

While it’s a short book, it doesn’t skimp on prodding the reader to think about big issues. Definitely would recommend!

Beautifully written and deeply descriptive of a decent man reflecting on the wrongs in his community and taking what most would see as a major risk to see justice done.

I would have like more detail about what happened to Sarah. Did not care for the ending.
  • Worth reading, time flies in this book.

Excellent, relatable story of courage and doing the right thing despite risking it all.

Nothing small about Furlong. He sees his world, feels it, reasons it out and decides to change it.

Beautifully written. Equal parts soulful and sad.

However…..this is a 36 page short story not a 128 page short novel as described. Very disappointing. That said, this is a sensitive, moving, beautifully written story.

I loved the writing, but the ending was not satisfactory. Too short but very moving.
