Description

From James Patterson, the world's #1 bestselling author: a young lawyer takes on the judge who is destroying her hometown—and ends up in jail herself.

In picture-perfect Erva, Alabama, the most serious crimes are misdemeanors. Speeding tickets. Shoplifting. Contempt of court.

Then why is the jail so crowded? And why are so few prisoners released? There’s only one place to learn the truth behind these incriminating secrets.

Sometimes the best education a lawyer can get is a short stretch of hard time.

Read many of James Patterson’s books. I had a hard time reading this. It just didn’t have flow of other books James Patterson.

Two books in one about two separate young women lawyers. Sometimes horrifying but excellent reading!

I find the corrupt small town run by 1 crazy man in charge, a tough read, always even by such a good author. In the ‘60’s & ‘70’s it was an all too common theme.
  • Great Story!!!!

Took me a bit to realise it’s basically 2 books in 1. Great writing as usual and kept me engaged, but seemed to be rather predictable at times. Good read!

Suspenseful and sad at the same time plus it’s kinda real cause sex trafficking has never disappeared, am glad that justice was served and the conclusion was happy and a bit disturbing at the same time. I hope they make this into a book series.
