I almost gave up on this but I rarely allow myself to give up on a book. There are a lot of pages going on and on about the “art of negotiation “ in her purchases. The historical facts are very good and I love the fact that the characters were real people and the authors research on them is spot on. Belle ended up burning all her diaries before she died in real life so I’m sure many liberties had to be taken on this book. I’m glad to know this library still exists today. NJ

Written from the perspective of J P Morgan’s personal librarian, you are immersed in the story of Morgan’s life, and his influence on those around him. Outstanding writing, and never boring!

As someone who doesn’t read as much but still loves a good book, this one right here melts your hearts and invokes so many emotions it remains in your memories.
  • Africa is a continent that speaks to me as this book and my Quaker ancestors do !

I have discovered Africa during the last few years of my life and am so pleased to be there with people who are not victims of racist thoughts and actions. As such, I think I can really appreciate the book. My maternal grandparents were staunch Quakers as their ancestors were for generations. I know they would understand my admiration for this wonderful book!

How much has been white washed in history? I enjoyed the discovery of yet another woman of color, so intelligent, elegant and unique.
