  • more disturbing then entertaining

there were about two interesting points in the story other than that the book is very disturbing, gruesome and lacks depth in certain aspects good ending but it could have used more plot overall, the writing style can be confusing at times since its in third person

  • Terrifying Humanistic Story

This book was engaging from the first few pages. It was strange to read a story so deranged but also thrilling. The character development was complex and unpredictable.
  • Makes you really think

Ending was a little lack luster and abrupt for my tastes, but it was a very engaging and thought provoking book.
  • Cool idea, boring execution

So the idea is cool. Eating people because animals can’t be eaten anymore is a really interesting societal concept to explore. But the book doesn’t do that. I book lacks much of a plot. It’s always jumping from one activity to another but never really filling out any of the details or following through. Character progression is weak and the ending is completely poor and short. I think exploring more of the government making this up, or taking down the scavengers would have made a really good plot movement for the book but it didn’t happen. And I finished the book just unhappy with it. I think it was $4? So nothing lost on my time.

I didn’t love the style of writing but the plot was interesting. I read this book because people talked about “the twist” at the end, but honestly, a blind man could see it coming from a mile away. For me, this is one of those stories that I’ll only read once.
