Intriguing but slow

I started the book- - it was mildly intriguing but I couldn’t finish it. It didn’t capture my attention enough. I ended up getting to chapter 7 and then skipped to the end. Read the last chapter and was satisfied that there was an HEA. How it got there and me not knowing didn’t bother me which says something about the book.

Could have been a good story without so much explicit sex and language.

Enjoyed reading about the underside of the Regency. Period I applaud the honesty. Loved the multigenerational. Interesting all the way through. Thank you for not being repetitive!
Ok read

First time reading this type of this authors writing. I was a little disappointed and prefer her Western style of writing better.
Of course this book was set during a different time in our history when women were treated with little to no respect. Though the heroine in this book tried
to be strong and independent life just gave her a different path to follow.

I enjoyed this book as I read it in three days. I do wish she would’ve continued on just a little bit instead of stopping where it did.
Good story

Interesting historical novel. I enjoyed the story and the characters. I am amazed at the few rights women had back then.
Trigger warning

The main male character rapes the main female character on multiple occasions. He uses her desperation to force her to have sex with him at the threat of losing her home and job and making her family homeless. Then we’re just supposed to forget about that and believe he’s secretly noble and kindhearted. This book is not a love story.
Horrible book

I maybe read 4 chapters. I didn’t like the language that was used in the book. I didn’t like it at all.
