Fanny Burney was an English writer, novelist and diarist. Anticipated the Romanticism, written in epistolary or autobiographical form, her novels had a great success with her contemporaries. However, today she is mostly known in consequence of diaries, which had been journalized during her lifetime and were published after her death.
Published in 1814, “The Wanderer Or Female Difficulties” is Frances Burney’s last novel. The tale is about a mysterious woman from revolutionary France who trying to earn her living in England while hiding her identity. The novel focuses on the difficulties faced by women as they strive for economic and social independence.
